What is Grit Gravity?
A Cebu based climbing company founded by Mervil Patigdas. Born from his passion for rock climbing and adventure, GritGravity exists to share the passion to both experienced and aspiring climbers who wants to learn, enjoy and experience rock climbing. With this, our company is guided by a value system to help us reach our mission.
GritGravity Values
The Environment
It is our belief that we have to take care of the place where we recreate so that the future generations will enjoy it as much as we do;
Community
The local community and the climbing community are our partners in the promotion of climbing ethics and protection of the climbing areas
Excellence
Whether we are providing our service or putting in work with the community, we strive to give our full effort
GritGravity provides rock climbing courses and guiding service. We are dedicated to give you a better experience in What We Do. This is an experience where risks are being managed and mitigated, but at the same time the individual has fun, learning, and challenging experiences.
GritGravity operates on a small group size. The ratio for guiding services is 1:4, while 1:2 ratio is used for our instructional courses. This enables us to properly attend to the participant’s goals and maximize safety. Smaller group size also paves way to a better experience towards the outdoor environment, the climbing activity, the local place, and with the guide.
Our Guide
He is a climber for over a decade, and has been able to climb in some parts of the Philippines and Southeast Asia. The crag has been the playground for our guide and this now becomes his work place. Mervil has worked as a climbing guide in Ha Long Bay, Vietnam, explored the crag in Chiang Mai and Lopburi Thailand, placed traditional gear in the sand stone conglomerates of Longdong in Taiwan, and pulled on the granites of Hong Kong and the limestones of Yangshuo, China.
He’s been trained as an SPI by the AMGA, has a Level III Sport Climbing, and a Rock Level I under the Singapore National Climbing Standards.
When not guiding, he works as an outdoor educator for a well-established company in Hong Kong helping kids understand the world we live in, a little better. This experience had helped sharpen his teaching skills over the years.
